Meet… Andrew Pullinger

June 04, 2020

Project Manager Andrew Pullinger has been with Aworth Survey Consultants for more than 30 years and leads our Property Measurement, Measured Building Survey & BIM capability.

He joined the firm in 1988 as a trainee land surveyor.

“I was always been interested in architecture, geography, and environmental studies, which led me to consider a career in the as-built environment” Andrew explains. “When I left college, I knew I wanted to pursue a career and not just a job. Surveying appealed to me because of the variety of environments and technologies, while Aworth, with local and London offices, offered a wide range of career paths and training.”

Over the years, he worked his way up through the land surveying side of the business, to senior land surveyor. After 12 years, Andrew moved over to measured building surveying for several years before undertaking a consultant surveyor role for Metronet Rail BCV (London Underground) working on civil assets. In 2005, he returned to a senior measured building surveyor role, before becoming a project manager in 2006. He is an Associate member of RICS.

Today, Andrew’s role also involves managing quotations, detailing project specification, on-site briefings and liaising with clients, to the checking and delivery of projects. In addition, as the senior building surveyor and principle Revit BIM modeller, he undertakes measured building surveys, International Property Measurement Standards (IPMS) surveys and production of Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit and BIM.

“The diversity of building projects I manage and undertake gives me a real sense of satisfaction,” says Andrew. “I specialise in prime and super-prime property renovation projects, commercial and retail premises, and heritage conservation building projects.”

He also oversees the day-to-day running of the company’s IT, while also maintaining the website and media development strategies. In addition, he manages and ensures that Aworth’s Quality Management Systems are in place and that the firm continues to meet standard ISO 9001:2015.

“Whilst 99% of my projects are located in London and the South East, I had the privilege to be part of the first civil land survey team in the Falkland Islands in 1990, for land re-development in Port Stanley,” says Andrew. “I have had the fortune to work on many iconic buildings and projects from Asprey London, Merchant Square Paddington and Lots Road Power Station to super-prime residential. Whilst most projects are humbler such as social housing renovations or educational refurbishments, I get real satisfaction in being part of the architectural and construction process and the legacy they leave.”

After three decades with Aworth, Andrew say that the firm stands out from its competitors due to a ‘commitment to excellence’.

“Aworth has always been highly regarded in the surveying industry and that’s down to our team of highly competent staff, producing accurate high-quality surveys; we regard each project to be personal to us,” he explains.

When he’s not at work, Andrew enjoys fitness swimming, travelling, architecture, home improvements, cooking and spending time with friends and family; as well as snowboarding and surfing, when he’s able to get away.
